The sculpting epoxy was further refined and holes were cut for the eyes. The idea of placing the head inside a bowl as a symbol of martyrdom began to take shape. The bowl became the substitute for a rug. It was important that the bowl was also a domestic functional object found in a home. Placing the head inside the bowl created an unexpectedly jarring effect. This emotional response is similar to how I felt when I viewed the tiger rug in the home.
