En Rejse, which translates to “a journey” is a tribute to my father who was of Danish lineage. The vessel, inspired by a Viking ship, symbolically carries the fallen warrior to the afterlife. Charred bones gently disintegrate and shift through the vessel reflecting the impermanence of life. Within the ship lay nine marigold flowers, which represent ninety years of life. These marigolds were once living in my garden and have been electroformed to commemorate a man who loved the simple beauty of nature he found in his own garden.
